We Broke the Earth's Axis to Grow Our Food

A new way of seeing food begins at the table.

We Broke the Earth's Axis to Grow Our Food: A Delicious Revolution on Our Plate

By Christoph Langwallner and Sylvie Chau

What if the future of food depends on remembering what we have forgotten?

The Challenge

The Challenge

The book explores what happens when the way we produce food becomes disconnected from the living systems that sustain us.

  • Intensive food systems and their impact on the land
  • The loss of biodiversity in our fields and on our plates
  • The narrowing of crop diversity across the world
  • The growing disconnect between people and the food they eat
The Opportunity

The Opportunity

But the story does not end with the problem. The book reveals another possibility — a food future built around:

  • Forgotten crops and their extraordinary potential
  • Ancestral knowledge preserved in communities around the world
  • Diverse diets that nourish both people and ecosystems
  • Regenerative possibilities rooted in cultural heritage

What readers will discover.

  • How food systems shape our planet
  • Why crop diversity matters for our health and our future
  • The connection between food, ecosystems, and culture
  • Forgotten foods waiting to be rediscovered
  • How everyday choices can create positive change

About the Authors

Christoph Langwallner grew up in an agricultural environment, where early mornings in the fields shaped his instinctive understanding of the land and the delicate balance behind every harvest. Today, he is a leading voice in regenerative food systems, leveraging decades of experience across agriculture, food technology, and global supply chains to empower communities and drive a bold reimagining of how the world grows and enjoys its food. Sylvie Chau is a young millennial shaped at the turning point of modern food consumption: raised in abundance, yet aware of its environmental and social costs. With a background in food engineering, she wants to be part of the change and make a positive impact on the world by developing and scaling foods that are healthy, delicious, regenerative, and empowering for communities.
